One of Hollywood Regency’s most recognisable designers started out as a Hollywood actor.
William “Billy” Haines was a successful film star in the 1920s and early 1930s before turning to interior design. His second career would become just as influential: his low-slung furniture, designed around conversation and entertaining, helped establish a new kind of Hollywood glamour—one where the “people in the room mattered more than the furniture itself.”
